WEBSITE AND PRESENTATIONS

In April 2020, the team at X12 approached Covive for a rebuild of their website, which serves the reference and operations needs of this ANSI-accredited, cross-industry standards development organization. Taking visual cues from X12’s recently completed new logo, Covive extended the brand to create information-rich web pages and presentations with a distinct color palette, approachable graphics, and refreshing typographic hierarchy.

Site Structure and Wireframes

The existing website had been developed on the Joomla platform nearly 10 years prior, based on visual design work that Chad Upham had done for the same client in 2010 and 2011. As internet standards had evolved, and the website’s content had become more expansive and complex, it was time to rethink the site organization, menu structure, and interface. Covive completed a comp analysis, site architecture, and wireframes within a matter of weeks, before moving on to visual design and development.

Website Design and Development

An all-new look for the organization was established through an analogous color palette, modern typography, and bold use of images and icons. Visual design mock-ups were prepared for all typical site pages including mobile and desktop responsive formats. An expanding megamenu with dynamic content listings allows site visitors to quickly orient themselves to the organization’s offerings and website content. Breadcrumbs, sidebar menus, section landing pages, and a “fat footer” with search and navigation features, all contribute to an improved user experience. Custom forms, searchable / filterable tables and lists, and special content features make the site highly usable and visually stimulating. The all new Drupal 8 website was planned, designed, built, tested, and launched in 16 weeks.

Presentations

Concurrently with launch of the website, X12 asked Covive to provide an all new HD presentation format to serve the training, meeting, speaking, and documentation functions of the organization. Covive applied new brand elements to create a comprehensive presentation template based on real, typical content, with a suite of master slides, section dividers, diagrams, and text and image styles. The new presentation format was put to use within days for a high-profile remote speaking engagement by the organization’s executive director.
